Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen has announced his decision to join a Saudi Arabian club in a lucrative move reportedly worth $33 million (₦52 billion) per year. In a candid statement, Osimhen explained that financial security for his family outweighs the pursuit of trophies at this stage in his career.
Osimhen, who has experienced a meteoric rise in football, reflected on his humble beginnings in Lagos. "I was born to very poor parents in Lagos. I grew up in Olusosun, an area where life was so hard that if you were able to eat breakfast, you might not even eat lunch or dinner. We were never able to have three square meals per day," he shared.
His struggles intensified with the loss of his mother when he was just nine years old, followed by his father's job loss shortly thereafter. This hardship led Osimhen and his siblings to sell water on the streets to survive. Despite these early setbacks, Osimhen's passion for football became a beacon of hope for his family.
