Sexyy Red has refuted recent rumors suggesting she would perform at a Donald Trump campaign rally. The speculation began when a post circulated on X, indicating that the rapper, known for her hit “Get It Sexyy,” was scheduled to take the stage at Trump’s rally in Atlanta on August 3.

Responding swiftly to the claims, Sexyy Red took to X to clarify the situation. “Dey fakin dats cap,” she wrote, dismissing the rumors as false.

Earlier last month, Sexyy Red had already distanced herself from Trump after facing backlash for wearing a giant MAGA hat, altered to read “Make America Sexyy Again,” during her performance at the 2024 Roots Picnic. Despite the hat's parody of Trump's slogan, many fans criticized the gesture as an endorsement of the former president.

In a subsequent X post, Sexyy Red asserted her independence from political endorsements, declaring, “It’s Sexyy Red 4 President. I’m my own candidate I’m not endorsing anybody period.”

Back in October, during an appearance on Theo Von’s *This Past Weekend* podcast, Sexyy Red expressed her complex views on Trump, noting his impact on the Black community through prison reform and stimulus checks. “I like Trump,” she stated. “We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks. Them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you.”

The reaction to her comments was mixed, with some social media users expressing disappointment and skepticism. Hot 97's Ebro Darden criticized the misunderstanding surrounding the stimulus checks, while others criticized Sexyy Red’s perceived endorsement.

The controversy highlights the ongoing intersection of politics and entertainment in the public sphere, reflecting the diverse and often contentious opinions within the hip-hop community.
