Drake is facing some playful trolling from UFC fighter Dricus du Plessis after the rapper’s bet on Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 didn’t pan out. On Saturday, August 17, du Plessis retained his middleweight title by defeating Adesanya in the fourth round. The night before the fight, Drake had publicly backed Adesanya, sharing his wager on Instagram with the caption, “Always with Izzy [salute emoji].”

Following his victory, du Plessis took to social media to thank Drake in a humorous post, sharing a photo of himself celebrating with a drink and his championship belt. “From the bottom of my heart once again THANK YOU @Drake,” he wrote.

Rapper Denzel Curry also joined in on the fun, tweeting, “Drake…. Stop Betting on my favorite fighters.”

Despite the jokes, Drake’s betting luck isn’t always bad. Earlier this year, he won over $2 million by correctly predicting the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Drake had placed a $1.15 million bet on the Chiefs, citing Taylor Swift’s influence as a factor in his decision, since she was dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at the time.

Drake’s bet paid off as the Chiefs won 25-22, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes earning MVP honors for the second consecutive year. The rapper celebrated his win with a video on Instagram, showing the aftermath of his excitement, which included a broken plate.

The “Drake curse” has become a running joke, with many athletes and teams seemingly doomed after receiving his support. However, Drake has managed to break the curse on occasion, as evidenced by his recent Super Bowl success.
