NBA YoungBoy, the prominent rapper known for his legal troubles, is now facing a potential 10-year prison sentence in connection with a federal gun charge. According to recent reports from WAFB, the rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, is expected to plead guilty to the charge, which stems from a 2020 incident in Baton Rouge.

The charge involves possession of firearms—specifically a 9 mm handgun and a .45-caliber Glock—despite NBA YoungBoy being a felon prohibited from owning guns due to a 2016 shootout. The case initially began in Baton Rouge, but YB’s attorney, Drew Findling, has filed paperwork to transfer the proceedings to Utah. This move is likely aimed at streamlining the process as NBA YoungBoy faces multiple legal issues in both Cache County and Weber County, Utah.

If the case remains in Utah and YoungBoy proceeds with the guilty plea, he faces up to a decade in prison, fines, and supervised release. If he opts not to plead guilty, the case could revert to Louisiana. This decision follows a recent delay granted by Chief Judge Shelly Dick, allowing higher courts to review and provide guidance on applying federal gun laws to his case.
