Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of music icons JAY-Z and Beyoncé, is garnering acclaim for her role as Kiara in the upcoming film *Mufasa: The Lion King*. Director Barry Jenkins, speaking to ET on August 12, praised the 12-year-old actress for her standout performance.

Jenkins described Blue Ivy’s portrayal as “tremendous,” noting that she brought a unique emotional depth to the character. He emphasized that her casting was based solely on her talent and suitability for the role, rather than her famous parents.

“Blue Ivy did a wonderful job bringing Kiara to life,” Jenkins said. “We were looking for someone who matched the character’s vibe and age, and she fit perfectly. The casting had nothing to do with her mom and dad.”

Blue Ivy will play the daughter of Samba and Nala in the film, which serves as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of Disney's *The Lion King*. Beyoncé will reprise her role as Nala, and the film will feature music by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
