Dr. Dre is setting his sights on a new challenge for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in his hometown of Los Angeles. After closing the 2024 Olympics with a performance alongside Snoop Dogg, Dre now aims to compete in the games, but not in a musical capacity. Instead, he plans to try out for the archery team

.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dre shared his unexpected ambition. “I’m dead-ass serious,” he told interviewer Nischelle Turner. “I actually started playing around with archery in junior high. I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup — I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that. So I have it set up in my backyard. I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90. Wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal?”

Dre’s confidence is evident as he concluded, “I feel like I can do anything.”

In the same interview, Dre also discussed his and Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, Missionary, which he described as “some of the best music” he’s ever made. Reflecting on the difference between working on Missionary and Snoop’s 1993 debut Doggystyle, Dre noted the maturity and growth in their music. “This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career […] I’m not playing.”

Dre revealed that the album is nearing completion and is slated for a November release, coinciding with the 31st anniversary of Doggystyle.
