MIAMI, FLORIDA – Sean Kingston, the 34-year-old singer and rapper whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, 61, both residents of Southwest Ranches, Fla., have been indicted on federal charges related to a fraudulent scheme. The indictment alleges that they committed over $1 million worth of fraud by defrauding victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other goods using fraudulent documents.

The charges include one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. If convicted, Kingston and Turner could face up to 20 years in prison for each count.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida asserts that the defendants falsely represented executing bank wire or other monetary payment transfers, resulting in their unjust enrichment despite non-payment. The alleged scheme involved obtaining $1 million in property through deceptive means.

Sean Kingston gained fame with his platinum hit “Beautiful Girls,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks in 2007. His subsequent track, “Take You There,” reached No. 7 on the same chart. Kingston has collaborated with artists such as Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Wyclef Jean.

Both Anderson and Turner were arrested on fraud charges in late May. Turner was apprehended in Florida, while Anderson was taken into custody in California after a concert performance.

In an Instagram post before his arrest, Kingston wrote, “People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”

Robert Rosenblatt, the attorney representing the pair, expressed confidence in a successful resolution for Shawn and his mother, despite the allegations against them.
