Raekwon, affectionately known as The Chef, acknowledged the complexities of orchestrating a new Wu-Tang Clan album, citing the members' diverse schedules and creative visions. "We tryna get it together, you know? Everybody’s spread out. Everybody’s doing something great in their life, so when it’s time for everybody to get in the room, it just seems like it’s the hardest shit in the world," he shared during the live stream. Despite these hurdles, Raekwon emphasized, "Don’t count us out. Don’t never count us out."
Turning attention to his personal music career, Raekwon unveiled plans to unveil details about his next solo project on August 1, coinciding with the 29th anniversary of his seminal album "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx." "This next record I’ma do? I’m telling y’all, this next record. I’m gonna announce my next record on Cuban Linx day," he declared confidently, promising that the title announcement will stun listeners.
The Wu-Tang Clan last released a studio album in 2015 with "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin," a controversial project of which only one physical copy was produced and eventually sold for $2 million to Martin Shkreli. Recently, the album gained broader accessibility following a $4 million sale to the NFT collective PleasrDAO and a subsequent exhibition in Tasmania.
Raekwon, meanwhile, has continued to cultivate his solo career since the release of "The Wild" in 2017, which was well-received for its lyrical depth and notable collaborations with artists like Lil Wayne and CeeLo Green.
