Allegations of Bribery Surface Following Controversial Finance Bill Vote

In a startling revelation, Juja Member of Parliament, Hon. George Koimburi, has accused President William Ruto of orchestrating a bribery scheme to ensure the passage of the controversial Finance Bill 2024. According to Koimburi, MPs were allegedly offered hefty sums of money amounting to Ksh. 2 million each in exchange for their votes in favor of the bill.

The claims emerged during a public address at the AIPCA church in Ndurumo, where Koimburi addressed congregants about the alleged bribery. "We were offered money... you saw how they carried money in sacks," he asserted, highlighting the gravity of the accusations.

Koimburi further detailed that the offer was straightforward: Ksh. 2 million for every yes vote on the finance bill. However, he adamantly stated that he refused the bribe, citing his commitment to the electorate who placed their trust in him. "If this bill passes, the youth may burn the country," he cautioned, underscoring the potential ramifications of such alleged misconduct.

The Finance Bill 2024 has been a subject of intense debate and public outcry following its recent passage by a majority of Members of Parliament. Kenyans have expressed widespread dissatisfaction and concern over its implications for the country's economic landscape and the welfare of its citizens.

President William Ruto's office has not yet responded to these serious allegations. However, the accusations made by Hon. Koimburi have sparked renewed public scrutiny and demands for transparency in governance.

As the situation unfolds, citizens and stakeholders alike await further developments and clarity on the allegations of bribery surrounding the passage of the finance bill. The integrity of the legislative process and the accountability of elected officials hang in the balance, raising critical questions about ethical conduct and public trust in Kenya's democratic institutions.
