Nyamira, June 6, 2024 — The Nyamira Boys High School community is in mourning following the sudden death of one of its teachers. Kelvin Omwenga, a Chemistry and Mathematics teacher, was found dead inside his house. According to Nyamira Township Assistant Chief Johnson Manyara, Omwenga had lost KSh 50,000 in a gaming venture. His body was discovered after he allegedly took his own life

Omwenga’s wife had traveled upcountry after giving birth, and he had informed her that his parents were ailing. The tragic incident highlights the impact of gambling-related stress and the need for mental health support.
The school community is devastated by the loss of a dedicated educator. Our thoughts are with Omwenga’s family during this difficult time.
