Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has ignited a storm of speculation and criticism by signaling a potential departure from his current political alliance, drawing parallels to a strategy previously employed by his predecessor, Dr. William Ruto. Speaking at the launch of new classrooms at Manyatta Primary School in Ruai, Kasarani Constituency, Nairobi, Mr. Gachagua hinted at significant political maneuvers that could reshape the landscape of the Mount Kenya region.

Accompanied by area MP Adams Karauri, Gachagua's speech resonated deeply with the crowd, employing his mother tongue in what observers described as a calculated move aimed at connecting with a diverse audience. "They can belittle me as much as they want… they can even dismiss me as a villager," he asserted, "but in the near future, there is something I will say." These cryptic remarks have left political commentators speculating on his future ambitions and strategic realignments.Celebrity gossip App is the centre of all entertainment

Critics, including National Assembly Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah, have not minced words in their assessment of Gachagua's intentions. In a pointed rebuke during a gathering in Kiambu County, Ichung’wah accused the Deputy President of undermining President William Ruto's administration for personal gain. "Stop telling people at night that William Ruto is a one-term President and that you will marshal your community to undermine and sabotage the government," he admonished.

Gachagua's apparent divergence from the current administration's agenda has sparked concerns over potential political instability within the ruling party. With memories still fresh of Dr. Ruto's unprecedented rise from Deputy President to President, analysts warn that Gachagua's ambitions may be premature and could alienate crucial allies in the Mount Kenya region.

Governor Kahiga of Nyeri added fuel to the fire by asserting that the region is not yet ready to be led by youthful leaders, echoing sentiments that could complicate Gachagua's political calculations.

In 2013, President Uhuru Kenyatta's promise to pass the baton to Dr. Ruto was a cornerstone of their alliance, which eventually frayed amidst shifting political currents. Gachagua's actions now raise questions about loyalty and the stability of political alliances within the ruling party.

As Kenya prepares for the 2027 elections, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's maneuverings are poised to influence the political landscape significantly. Whether his gambit will pay off or backfire remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the political drama surrounding Gachagua is far from over.
