The popular M-Pesa service can now pay their overdraft facility, Fuliza, using loyalty points, in a move that is set to revolutionize the country’s economic landscape.

The leading telecommunications company introduced the new payment option, dubbed Lipa Fuliza na Bonga, to its customers in a bid to provide them with more flexibility and convenience when settling their Fuliza loan balances.

According to Safaricom, this service will only be available to customers whose Fuliza loan is more than 45 days past the repayment date. This means that individuals who have defaulted on their Fuliza loan for more than a month can now use their Bonga points to settle their outstanding balance.

This development comes just a few months after Safaricom denied media reports that it was accepting payment of Fuliza loans using Bonga points, stating that no such avenues were in place.

However, with the introduction of Lipa Fuliza na Bonga, customers with overdue Fuliza loans can now avoid the hassle of paying with cash or using their M-Pesa balance to settle the balance.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Safaricom emphasized that this service is only applicable to customers with overdue Fuliza loans and is not a general payment option for the loan.

Safaricom’s Head of Financial Services, Alice Waweru, stated that the company is constantly looking for ways to enhance the M-Pesa experience for its customers and provide them with more flexibility and convenience in their financial transactions.

She added that the decision to introduce Lipa Fuliza na Bonga was based on customer feedback and demands for innovative ways to settle their Fuliza loans.

This latest development is expected to greatly benefit Safaricom customers, especially those who heavily rely on the popular M-Pesa service for their day-to-day financial transactions.

As the leading telecommunications company in Kenya, Safaricom continues to use technology to revolutionize the country's economy and advance financial inclusion.

With Lipa Fuliza na Bonga, customers now have the option to use their loyalty points to settle overdue Fuliza loans, a move that is set to make the repayment process more seamlessness and convenient.
