Police are investigating a gruesome murder of a woman who was found stabbed and chopped to death in an Airbnb apartment along TRM Drive, Thika Road, in Kasarani, Nairobi.

The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, was discovered by the owner of the apartment on Sunday morning, after he noticed blood stains on the floor and walls.

He immediately alerted the Kasarani Police Station, who responded to the distress call and cordoned off the crime scene.

According to the police, the woman had checked in on Saturday evening with a male companion, who is suspected to be the killer.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene after committing the heinous act, leaving behind a blood-stained knife and a pair of scissors.

The motive of the murder is still unknown, but the police are pursuing leads from the CCTV footage and the booking records of the Airbnb.

The photo of the crime scene, which was shared on Twitter by a user identified as Juma G, has sparked outrage and condemnation from the public, who have called for justice for the slain woman.

This is the second incident of a woman being killed in an Airbnb in Kasarani in less than a month.

On December 23, 2023, another woman was found strangled to death in a similar apartment on Mirema Road, after spending the night with a man who also escaped.

The police have urged the public to be vigilant and cautious when using online platforms to book accommodation, especially with strangers.

They have also appealed to anyone with information that may help in the investigations to contact them through their hotline numbers.
