Nairobi, Kenya - Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 general election.

Speaking at a rally in Nairobi on Saturday, Wamalwa said he has served the country in various capacities, including as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, and Governor of Trans-Nzoia County, and he is ready to take on the highest office in the land.

"The only two positions I have not held are Deputy President and President. But I am not in a hurry. I still have time to achieve my dreams," he said.

Wamalwa said his party, DAP-K, is committed to promoting democracy, accountability, and development in Kenya, and he urged Kenyans to support his vision.

He also said he is open to forming alliances with other like-minded parties and leaders, as long as they share the same values and principles.

"I am not a lone ranger. I believe in working together with others for the common good of our nation. I am ready to join hands with anyone who has the interest of Kenya at heart," he said.

Wamalwa is expected to face stiff competition from other presidential hopefuls, such as Deputy President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, among others.

The 2027 general election will be the first one after President Uhuru Kenyatta's second and final term ends in 2022.
