Idah Odinga, the wife of Opposition leader Raila Odinga, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late son, Fidel Castro Odinga, who died nine years ago.

In a social media post, Idah Odinga shared a photo of Fidel and wrote a touching message, expressing her love and admiration for him.

"The wings of years have flapped so fast since you left. It is 9 today! Unbelievably fast! But that was always you, my Son Fidel Castro Makarios Odhiambo Odinga," she said.

She added that Fidel was a "brilliant, kind, generous, and courageous" person who touched many lives and inspired many people.

"You were a great son, brother, husband, father, and friend. You left a legacy of love, service, and leadership. You are always in our hearts and minds. We miss you dearly," she said.

Fidel passed away on the morning of January 4, 2015, under unclear circumstances. He was found dead in his Karen home after a night out with friends. He was 41 years old.

He was the eldest son of Raila Odinga and Idah Odinga, and the father of three children. He was also a prominent businessman and a political aspirant.

His death sparked a wave of grief and condolences from across the country and beyond. He was buried at his grandfather's home in Bondo, Siaya County, on January 10, 2015
