WASHINGTON: Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has blocked the Senate confirmation of two former aides to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), escalating the feud between the two Republican senators.
Hawley announced on Wednesday that he would place a hold on the nominations of Kyle Hauptman and Brian Brooks, who were tapped by President Joe Biden to serve as members of the National Credit Union Administration Board and the Comptroller of the Currency, respectively.
Hawley said he was blocking the nominees because of their ties to McConnell, whom he accused of being "out of touch" with the American people and "beholden" to corporate interests.
